The Five 'C's of Coronation: Celebrating the King's Coronation with Your Children
It has been seventy years since a monarch was last crowned in the UK, so for many of us, King Charles’ Coronation will be the first time we have ever had the opportunity to experience this significant national event. For our children, it may well become a key memory they look back on in years to come as they realise the importance of this time in history.
With celebrations taking place up and down the country, there will be an infinite number of ways you can mark the occasion with your children. To be further inspired, read on to find out how to put the capital 'C' into Coronation with our 'Five Cs of Coronation Celebration!'
C is for Creativity
Let your child unleash their creativity during Kings Charles’ Coronation by commemorating the event with their very own unique piece of royal-inspired artwork. Recycled materials and basic craft supplies can be used to create decorations for a party, such as bunting and flags or try using fabric pens and fabric glue to design a t-shirt to mark the day. Our range of beds with desks provide the perfect space for your child to work on their Coronation projects and integrated shelves and cupboards mean that they have plenty of space to store and display them too!
C is for Community
With many people looking forward to enjoying a bank holiday weekend for the Coronation, it is the perfect time to catch up with loved ones and spend quality time with family and friends. Many communities will be coming together to share food and fellowship, so look out for events near you that your child can be a part of. And if there is nothing happening local to you, make it happen! Ask your child to help design a menu and assist with the preparations. They might like to get together with friends from school or other members of the community for memories they will cherish, creating a sense of belonging that is so important in our digital age.
C is for Celebration
It is not the scale of the celebration that counts, but the small gestures that highlight to your child that this is a special event. Activities as simple as putting up Union Jack bunting in their bedroom will bring a sense of novelty that your child will relish and a flag-themed duvet cover is just the ticket with one of our cabin beds. Crowding around the television to watch the events of the day unfold can be made more special with some culinary treats such as scones and jam and homemade lemonade. Or if your child enjoys games, a royal-themed quiz is the ideal way to have some fun on a budget whilst testing the family's knowledge! A little goes a long way, and it is often the seemingly small things that children look back on fondly.
C is for Connection
The greatest gift you can give your child is your time. In our fast-paced modern world, having time to simply enjoy each other's company is a rare gift. As the nation presses the pause button for the Coronation, ensure you take the time to stop too and focus on this rare opportunity to spend quality time with your child. Occasions such as these can bring us together as we share a sense of common purpose, so take the time to plan, prepare and party with your child and enjoy the connection that collaboration on a shared goal can bring. Who knows, you may just rediscover your own sense of creativity as you help your child to unlock theirs!
C is for Calm
Whatever you and your child get up to for King Charles’ Coronation, ensure that the festivities and celebrations wind down gently and end on a positive note with time to relax and reflect on what is sure to be a momentous occasion. Retreating to the comfort of a welcoming bed and the promise of a good night's sleep is easy with our selection of children's beds. Let them drift away in a palace of their very own with one of our children's tent beds or choose a themed bed for a slumber fit for a King! However you choose to celebrate with your child, we are sure that this exciting moment in British history will stay with your child for life.
