How to Make the Most of Space in Your Child's Bedroom
Here at the Children's Bed Shop, we know how important it is to try to create a spacious home. Did you know that the UK builds the smallest houses in Europe even though most families are desperate for more living and storage space? The average floor space of a new house in the UK is 76 square metres whereas the average floor space of a new house in Holland is 115 square metres. This is not because of a lack of land on which to build either, as a lot of countries are just as densely populated as ours but they still build larger houses.
So, why do we build the smallest houses in Europe? Firstly, this is because the UK does not have any requirements as to what the minimum size of a house should be, and secondly, this is because builders are able to make more money building smaller houses with very little storage space.
If you think about it, our children's bedrooms are probably home to the highest number of items at any one time. Initially, you have all of the paraphernalia that comes with babies, then you have the huge number of toys that accompany toddlers and young children, and finally, you have all of the clothes, technology, and books that are essential for teenagers.
It is, therefore, essential that we try to save as much space as possible in the kid's bedrooms. Perhaps you've never really considered this, but your child's bed could be taking up a lot of space, especially if it is a traditional single-sized bed. We have numerous space-saving beds (and fun beds!) for you to browse through on our website. Let's take a look at some of them now.
Ethan House Bed with Trundle in White & Grey
This child's bed is perfect if your youngster engages in a lot of imaginative play and if they share a room with a sibling or have a lot of sleepovers. We can just picture your child pretending they are in their own woodland house or even playing shop and imagining that they are selling items from the window of the bed! You can also decorate the 'roof of the house with fairy lights to make it an especially cozy place to be. The trundle is a pull-out bed that takes a full-sized single mattress. This is amazing when your children are sharing a room because it means that the trundle can be neatly rolled back under the bed so that there is more space to play during the day.
Trasman Pod Solo 4 Gaming High Sleeper Bed with Grey Futon
This bed is an excellent choice for a teenager if they like to game. This is a high sleeper which means that the bed itself has been raised off of the ground and is accessed by steps. A space has now been created between the mattress and the floor. In this space, you will find a shelf for a monitor, a desk for a computer/console, and even a futon. There is also a rail for your child's clothes and some shelves. This bed boasts LED lighting which provides an extra element of excitement. Think about all of the square footage saved with this all-in-one pod!
Kids Avenue Midi Playhouse Mid Sleeper Bed in White with Chest & Cube Unit
Once again, this bed is ideal if your child engages in a lot of imaginative play as it has been designed to look like a house. This is a high sleeper which means that the bed has been raised off of the ground and is accessed by a ladder. A space has now been created between the mattress and the floor. In this additional space, you will find a chest of drawers and a cube storage unit (included in the price of the bed) which are both free-standing items. These pieces of furniture can be moved somewhere else in your child's bedroom and your child can now use the space between the mattress and the floor to create a cool den or as another place to store their everyday items.
