Schools Out for Easter
The Easter holidays provide a break from school work and a chance to refresh before the summer holidays. As parents, you probably think that the kids are forever on a school break and it can be a real challenge to keep your children happy during the holidays. We have put together a mini guide on how to keep your children occupied over the Easter break:
Easter Education
Seems as schools out for a few weeks why not bring education home with them. Encouraging your kids to learn about the reason why they are having a break from school will not only help to keep their minds active but will provide them with relevant knowledge. Keep it simple if the children are younger and explain that Easter isn’t just about receiving chocolate eggs but symbolises the rebirth of Jesus. Easter is normally explained to children in school prior to the holidays, so you could also use this time to ask them what they have learned.
The Easter Bunny
Easter is also related to the rebirth of life in spring and is symbolised by the rabbit or more famously, the ‘Easter Bunny.’ The first story of the bunny dates back to 1680s and legend has it that he lays, decorates and hides eggs as they are a symbol of new life. The peak time for Easter egg eating is on Sunday morning where children (and adults) can enjoy chocolate for breakfast!
Why not also make some spiced hot cross buns with the little ones? Sharing a hot cross bun with someone is supposed to ensure friendship throughout the coming year, encourage them to make them at sleepovers or with you on Sunday afternoon to keep them happy and engaged!
Arts and Crafts
Easter bonnets are more than just an excuse to attach the world’s most colourful hat to your child’s head for school (miniature chicks included). They are designed as a throwback to the days when people denied themselves the pleasure of wearing finery for the duration of Lent. We don’t think your child will have any trouble giving up their bonnets for Lent, but you can encourage them to give up their electronic devices and swap them for books or sweets could also be an option.
Easter Decorating
Whilst the kids are off school it isn’t just an opportunity to decorate Easter hats, but the time can also be used to spruce up their bedrooms ready for spring! Let your little ones help out with the decorating and restyling of their room whether it’s a full makeover or a little revamp.
